We were stunned by the news that Ferrari – yes, Ferrari – is developing an SUV to be debuted in 2022! The company known for its sports cars! The company formerly run by Sergio Marchionne who, when asked if he’d ever condone a Ferrari SUV, famously said, “You have to shoot me first.”
Well, apparently, the success of models like Bentley Bentayga and the Lamborghini Urus have convinced the new Ferrari bosses that this seemingly heretical concept isn’t so bad after all … that is, if there’s money in it.
Here are the deets: Developed under the Purosangue name, this crossover will feature a turbocharged V-8 that can deliver about 650 horsepower. All wheel drive is a given, and the new SUV is bound to come with the kind of interior technology that will make the geek in you giddy. It won’t be cheap: we’re guessing $350,000 to start.
This news let to a bit of a disagreement among the techs here at JP Logistics. Are SUVs designed by motorsport brands a good thing? Or a money-grabbing sacrilege?
While some of us are anxious to get behind the wheel of some of these big beauties, others feel that the recently developed SUVs are nothing more than a market-driven scheme, and that a large, lumbering Ferrari is about as ludicrous as an Aston Martin station wagon. What’s your take?
Whether you’re a fan or not, you can’t argue that some of these extra large luxury vehicles are pretty slick. Here’s a few that catch our eye:
Turbocharged engines plus an interior filled with fine wood and leather and designed to impress. We’ll admit to being a little in love with this one. Starting around $77,500, this model gives you the power you want with the cargo space you need.
With surprising agility, this model is a charmer, too. A 300-hp 3.0-liter turbo inline-six with an eight-speed automatic can be ordered with either rear- or all-wheel drive. There are plenty of options and extras. Starting price is a little lower at $64,500.
We’ve got some Land Rover fans at JP Logistics, and this Land Rover SUV lives up to their high standards. Ride quality is great, but you’ll get more bang for your buck if you choose either a gas or diesel V-6 with all-wheel drive.
Starting at $67,000, just about every SUV model Porsche puts out lives up to the hype. You won’t feel like you’re driving a tank. These models have that get-up-and-go you expect from a sports car brand.
This highly rated SUV is definitely at the top of our list. Versatile, smooth and sophisticated – it’s a joy on curvy roads and includes everything you want in a luxury vehicle. With a base price of $54,500, it’s not overpriced and it can carry the whole family in style.
Whether you’re shopping for an SUV or dreaming about a traditional Ferrari sports car, the experts at JP Logistics can ship your ride wherever you need it. Depend on us to deliver an unparalleled level of quality – luxury just the way you like it.
